When we came across Annie Griffiths' work, we loved the way she captured wildlife, nature and celebrates the beauty of women and their important contribution in local economies. It was the perfect collaboration for celebrating our promise of responsible sourcing.
A pioneer, she was one of the first women photographers out in the field. Annie has photographed in nearly 150 countries during her illustrious career. She personally supports advancement of women through her work, celebrating women and their accomplishments in their careers and also on a personal level.
When meeting Annie, we were touched by her kindness. It is this delicacy and care for others that you find in all her work. Together, we embarked on our responsible sourcing journey.
In addition to her editorial work, Annie is deeply committed to photographing for aid organizations around the world.
She is the Executive Director of Ripple Effect Images, a collective of photographers who document the programs that are empowering women and girls throughout the developing world, especially as they deal with the devastating effects of climate change.
Annie is an accomplished photographer, with her work featured in National Geographic, LIFE, Geo, Smithsonian Magazine and many other publications. Alongside author Barbara Kingsolver, she produced Last Stand: America’s Virgin Lands, a book celebrating the last pristine wilderness of North America. Proceeds from the book have raised more than a quarter of a million dollars for grassroots land conservation.
Annie has received awards from the National Press Photographers Association, the Associated Press, the National Organization of Women, The University of Minnesota and the White House News Photographers Association.
